I am a body-focused psychotherapist specializing in trauma resolution, working deeply to create more regulation in your nervous system. As a Registered Psychotherapist (RP), Relational Somatic Therapist & Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) - the focus of my work is helping individuals and couples - adults, teens and children - to develop more capacity for embodied physical health and emotional well-being - along with authentic, healthy connection - with themselves and with each other.
I work with those who experience anxiety, depression, chronic stress, pain & chronic illness and health concerns (such as fibromyalgia, migraines, extreme fatigue, nightmares, eczema and rashes, Crohn's disease and many others), disordered eating / eating disorders, addiction, emotional neglect, as well as trauma and its' after effects.
My practice includes integrating a body-focused component to all of my work with clients, along with co-regulating touch bodywork for trauma somatic bodywork on a table - including an ongoing awareness of what your body is doing in the moment. I also include education for you about what your body/nervous system is doing and how to use the power of implicit memory can help you get unstuck from previous life circumstances.
This work helps to heal the hidden effects of early developmental trauma, as well as inherited, intergenerational trauma and pre & peri natal trauma. I use the same principles of co-regulating touch bodywork for trauma during all of my therapeutic work, and offer Somatic Experiencing (SE) , as well as EMDR, another body-based therapy, Body-Mind Centering (BMC) and movement therapy - integrating all of these body-focused modalities into our work together, when they can be most helpful.
My approach is Polyvagal-Informed which means that I understand the link in human relationships, of the defense system (fight, flight, freeze), and the sensory processing system and how these systems interact with one another to establish a sense of safety in the body and mind. Somatic or “bottom-up” approaches to treatment are designed to target the source of the pain or symptom below cognitive awareness. By directly intervening in the limbic or sub-cortical areas of the brain, individuals are able to move through emotional pain or blocks, improve vagal tone, and engage the body’s innate capacity to heal.
Everyone experiences emotional pain and may feel anxious or depressed at different times in life. During these times, it is comforting to know that someone is there to listen and hold your heart with care, kindness and sensitivity. Deciding to work with a psychotherapist and somatic practitioner is a courageous step towards understanding yourself and to sort out what may be troubling you. I will see you, perhaps in ways that you've never been seen, and we will make sense of your patterns and struggles, and help you work through the layers of your life to see the beauty that exists within you.
As an integrative relational, somatic therapist, somatic practitioner and co-regulating touch bodywork for trauma practitioner, I will help you understand your relational and emotional patterns, and the feelings you experience in your body, within your relationships and in social situations. We will make sense of difficult feelings such as anxiety, anger, or sadness, that might otherwise isolate or overwhelm you.
With compassionate curiosity, we will focus on your experience of life - how it feels in your body, mind and heart. By opening yourself to new awareness, you will begin to understand yourself more clearly, heal what you are holding deep in your body, deepen your relationships with others, and experience more consistent feelings of well-being in your life.
I work remotely and offer co-regulating bodywork for trauma and somatic sessions online via Zoom.
I look forward to being with you.
