Jennifer Slater, MA, Phd(c), RHN, CYT, SEP
I hold a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Counseling Psychology, specializing in individual somatic trauma early developmental therapies. My services weave together Yoga and counseling skills that are interchangeable and individualized for each clients needs. I provide a space where I am wholly present to guide my client and myself in to the work we do.
I work with a variety of techniques to help facilitate clients in unleashing their innate ability to heal and resolve past traumas and wounds. My approach is holistic, working with a depth psychological perspective that emphasizes the soul (psyche) and each person's inherent capacity to heal and move towards wholeness. I work with yoga therapy, somatic psychotherapy, nutrition, and body manipulative therapy to help release contractive patterns of trauma from the body-mind to balance and reorganize the nervous system and the entire being.
My therapy practice includes integrating Somatic Experiencing with attachment, developmental, relational and psychodynamic approaches to treating developmental and shock trauma and other psychological issues including anxiety, depression and loss. Areas of expertise include LGBTQ, post-traumatic stress disorder, emotional issues related to medical conditions, and relationship/attachment difficulties. Additional training includes EMDR, Advanced SE Touch Training, and other psychological approaches including intersubjective, control-mastery in individual, couples and group psychotherapy.
I implement this process through a combination of three major approaches: Somatic Experiencing--releasing trauma held in the nervous system; Psychotherapy grounded in control mastery to reveal old belief systems or patterns from your history that may be unconsciously affecting current experience or behavior; and Spirituality--working with holistic principles to integrate your development.
