I support adults 19 years of age and older, with lived experiences of trauma. I acknowledge the power and wisdom that each person holds within, and I am here to support you to move towards a state of self- connection, self- agency, and well-being.
I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology (BSc), and a Master of Social Work (MSW). In pursuit of understanding and healing trauma, I am interested in and value approaches that honour and address the biological, emotional, cognitive and spiritual well-being of a person. I am trained as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP), a naturalistic approach to releasing traumatic stress trapped in the body. In Service of attuning and supporting the body and the nervous system towards regulation and resiliency, I recently completed training in Touch Skills for trauma practitioners with Kathy Kain.
I am also informed and draw from the following approaches: Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Compassion and Mindfulness Focused therapies.
Some life experiences that I can support you with include, but are not limited to, experiences of trauma in childhood or adulthood, experiences with loss/ grief, anxiety/depression, life transitions, difficulties with feeling and regulating emotions, a sense of disconnection from the body, and interpersonal conflict.
My approach is transparent, caring, thoughtful, and collaborative. I am going to meet you where you are at and take the time to understand what your needs, and goals are. Together we create a map that will support you to explore, and process what gets in the way, and what keeps you stuck in the present. The map is practical enough to assist you in navigating the challenges you face today, and encourage you to move towards the future that you envision.
