Annie Bloom, PhD

*I’m located in Tacoma, Washington, and am able to work with folks from other states and countries.*

I’m a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner trained in Embodied Recovery for Eating Disorders, Dynamic Attachment Re-patterning experience (DARe), Somatic Skills Online, Somatic Resilience and Regulation, Safe & Sound Protocol, and yoga therapy.

I have been in the healing and helping professions since 1993, from working with patients in acute care and inpatient rehabilitation to research, teaching, and medical/scientific writing. I hold a doctorate in Communication Sciences & Disorders, with a focus on the application of neuroscience to medical, cognitive, and developmental conditions.

I specialize in a cutting-edge approach to working with trauma and attachment wounds. Because the effects of trauma are stored in the body, working with the body and nervous system gives us direct access to your resilience and potential. With body-oriented therapy, my clients learn the tools for healthy attachment in relationships, develop a more regulated nervous system, improve their capacity to tolerate big emotions, and feel at home once again in their bodies.

I work with adults who have experienced the following:

Anxiety

Attachment

Chronic illness, pain, fibromyalgia

Complex PTSD

Depression

Developmental trauma

Eating disorders

Giftedness

LGBTQQIAAP+

Medical procedure trauma

Motor vehicle accidents

PTSD

Sexual abuse

I would be honored to join you on your healing journey.
