Hi there. My name is Luis, and I am licensed as a LPC and LCDC. As a SEP, I utilize talk and body work approaches that include advanced trainings in Syndromes, Eye of the Needle (near death and altered states), and Kathy Kane’s Touch Skills. Additionally, I am trained in DBT and EMDR.
I typically work from a Rogerian perspective, seeing client and therapist on equal footing, co-navigating the therapeutic work as a team. I focus on teaching somatic awareness of emotions, encouraging cognitive flexibility, and learning from patterns in personal experience. Over the years, I have worked with many folks (adolescents and adults) from diverse backgrounds on issues related to trauma. Most people who find me have experienced developmental/attachment trauma, addiction, grief, burn-out, and/or assault. This has included a great number of people from helping professions; like teachers, nurses, doctors, mental health providers, movement practitioners, and body workers.
I believe good work is based on the strength of the therapeutic relationship. Trust, and with it safety, must be earned. I understand seeking help requires hard-fought courage. I intentionally enter this work with a sense of humility for your nervous system and the experience it holds. It is my hope that we can move through those experiences together, nurturing the powerful changes you are worthy of!
