Susan M. Stutzman

Susan is the founder and owner of Kid Matters Counseling where she leads a team of exceptional therapists to provide care for children and families in the western suburbs of Chicago. She holds the roles of manager, supervisor, and therapist.

Susan offers empirically-based professional counseling that focuses on the whole person and works primarily through the lens of Gestalt and Systems based Theories. She enjoys creating a safe, hope-filled space for clients of all ages that is attachment-based and trauma-informed. As a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor, Certified Synergetic Play Therapist™, Certified Theraplay® Practitioner and
Certified Transforming Touch®Practitioner Susan works primarily with children ages 2-12 and their families. Her approach seeks to provide developmentally informed approaches steeped in neuroscience to help clients resolve emotional conflicts, cultivate healing, and nurture hope. Susan’s skill set, training, and experience include but are not limited to working with children and families with issues pertaining to anxiety, depression, abuse, trauma, addiction, and attachment.
